Rarely will a screenplay like Survivor Bermuda Triangle: The Movie reach theaters which such incredible anticipation. Jaime and Erik Huffman took great care in planning every detail of this action packed adventure, from each and every challenge to selecting an award winning cast starring Randy Bailey and Yul Kwon. Survivor Bermuda Triangle is set in the always beautiful yet unpredictable region in the tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The movie opens with a cast of 49 dynamic characters. Each with the choice to become a force in the film, or fade away into the sunset as they are selectively eliminated from their tribes. The first character we meet is Frosti who soon makes his wishes known throughout all the tribes. He has a plan and will let no one stand in his way. We also meet Yul Kwon, the leader of the villainous alliance that will eventually turn on their own and the enduring Randy Bailey who overcomes many obstacles and continues to battle on. Both of these have a strong support system that they hand select as the movie progresses. First we see Randy meet Natalie White, a perceptive and compassionate person who he soon learns to trust. He also quickly builds alliances with the underdog Ashley Trainer and Tom Westman, a calm and consistent cast member, who through a twist in the film has a second chance at life. In the meantime, Yul is also building his army and begins with his closest ally Ethan Zohn who he will soon learn is also very stubborn. He also aligns with Taj Johnson-George, who can be opinionated and proud as well as the very quiet Terry Deitz. In a surprising event that unfolds near the end of the film we discover that both leaders have counted heavily on the underhanded and cowardly Aras Baskauskas.
Survivor Bermuda Triangle does not lack for drama, there seems to be some at each and every turn in the film. At times, the drama can become to much and begins to detract away from the movie itself. The drama started with a major uproar about an entire Alliance banning together to destroy the evil Frosti. When Frosti heard about this possibility many people were called out and they of course in turn defended themselves. People such as Paloma even falsified records causing her to become a much despised member of the Villain gang, leading to her eventual demise. Paloma also reappeared in drama after her departure when questions arose about the true identities of her and a strangly similar yet different Ethan. The issue brewed just under the surface the entire movie, but was never really completely resolved. Perhaps a sequel will be set in motion to quell those remaining suspicions. After being removed from the film Sandra makes an unusual move and returns to have her say with the way everyone has basically turned over their minds to Yul and his minions. She calls for his assasination. Will the people in the Triangle listen and respond to such a plea?
The highlights of the film start right from the beginning as we see three shadowed figures in a dimly lit room. Each there with their own agenda yet attempting to work together for the greater good of the region. There is trouble and his name is Frosti. He has brought with him lies and destruction that could eventually take down all who are not on his side. Soon it is revealed that the three are the major characters of the movie, being Yul, Randy and Taj. They do manage to align their powers and for the beginning of the film work together to annihilate Frosti and all who have declared themselves a part of his plan. Throughout the film we learn that Yul and Randy have both been amassing powerful allies. It is their hope that these allies will help remove their enemies from the region ultimately giving them total control. As is usually the case one alliance is built on shady, underhanded dealings while the other is of good and noble intent. Many twists and turns occur along the way as Yul sets his target on eliminating various players within the game. One of those early targets was Rob C who happened to be in a critical battle for his life and was outnumbered by Yul’s minions. He was given a life saving opportunity to move into a new safe haven and he took that chance with one minute to spare. What could have ended badly with him being placed directly with Yul ended in a perfect move to a safe alliance with others he could trust. The Bermuda Triangle proved to be a place for paranormal activities when Randy faces mortal battles and is safe not once, but through five consecutive times. It truly is an exclamation to an already impressive show of power and control by the star. As with all films there are moments that draw from the film and would be considered a lowlight to the events as they unfold. There is a great deal of drama throughout the film. Many times it seemed the audience longed to see the film unfold without quite so much interference from those who had already been taken from the film. Another moment that was disappointing, was to watch the fall of Corrine, a very strong competitor and a close ally of Randy, eventually ending her own life in the film. It was truly a tragedy near the midpoint of the show and felt almost out of place with the rest of the film. Soon after this time the divided groups organized into 2 and a clash of the century is about to unfold. As mentioned previously, Aras stepped into a role that would mean utter chaos and destruction to many people who should not have been slaughtered so ruthlessly. In a series of moves where he would first pledge he loyalty to Yul and then switch to Randy he essentially kept himself in a position of power until Randy and his alliance got the upper hand and eventually swept him from the region. The battle for power continues on, and it is left to wonder who will come out victorious in this battle. Will evil win and rule the area like a blanket of doom, or will good ultimately prevail?
Survivor Bermuda Triangle works for the viewer. It has all the action, drama and suspense people have come to expect. The pace of the film is right on and keeps the viewer intrigued from start to finish. I highly recommend Survivor Bermuda Triangle: The Movie.
